My family loves going to B&G Oysters. In the winter, I really like going and sitting near where they shuck the oysters. It is an open kitchen, so I can watch them cook too! But in the summer, we like sitting outside on the patio and this was the first time that it was warm enough to sit outside this year.
The servers and other staff are always really nice. They know us there because we go a lot and so after we ordered, they sent us out fried oysters as a surprise from the kitchen! The oysters came on top of tartar sauce, which I liked. The oysters had a lot of texture. The outside was hot and crispy, but the inside almost felt like jello in my mouth!

Next we got our raw bar. We had three kinds of oysters, king crab legs, shrimp cocktail and smoked mussels. We had never had smoked mussels before, but they were cold and smoky and delicious. I don't always love mussels, but the smoking seemed to make them firmer, which I liked. The king crab legs and mussels were my favorites from the raw bar.

We also got charred octopus. The thin part at the end of the tentacle was very crispy and I loved the navy beans that it came with. I think that the beans might have been fried, because they were very crispy too.

My brother got the New England Clam Chowder, with bacon lardons and spicy crouton. He thought it was very good. He liked that it was thick and creamy with lots of different textures. The clams were chewy and the potatoes were soft.

My dad always gets the lobster roll with bacon. He says it's the best because the roll is a really nice ciabatta bread and there's the right amount of mayonnaise and he thinks that bacon makes everything taste better. And he also really likes the fries.

I got the striped bass with brussels sprouts, spaetzle, carrot puree, and citrus beurre blanc. Spaetzle is a kind of German dumpling. I liked the carrot puree and thought that it looked bright and colorful. I liked that the fish was crispy. My brother liked the spaetzle.

My brother had the tagliatelle with lobster, clams, white wine and butter. He didn't really like it, but my mom loved it!

We love B&G Oysters, but we just found out that they've changed the concept of their menu! Unfortunately that means that you can't get the octopus or tagliatelle anymore, because they're going back to just focusing on simple seafood. I'm not sure how I feel about that. I guess I'll have to go back and let you know what I think!
