Fun at the Diner!

For the first day of summer, my mom took us to to Mike's City Diner for breakfast.

We ordered a whole bunch of different things for breakfast and shared. The french toast was my favorite. It was big and softer than most french toast, more like a pancake. Mike's doesn't have real maple syrup, and we don't like the fake kind, but the sugar on top still made the french toast sweet. I think that you can buy little bottles of real maple syrup at the grocery store, if you want to bring your own though.

My sister got pancakes, and they were huge. She liked them a lot, but I thought that the french toast was better.

We also got scrambled eggs. I think that I like my scrambled eggs more creamy. These ones were a little bit harder, but they were still good. They were just cooked for longer than we do when we make them at home.

The last thing that we got was over easy eggs with whole wheat toast. The toast had a great deal of butter on it (Mercy Watson would love this toast!). The eggs were cooked perfectly, with a warm runny yolk. I liked dipping the toast into the yolk. It was delicious and my mom's favorite part of the meal.

We got lots of food, but my mom said that it was very inexpensive. Mike's is a great place to go if you want a lot of delectable food for not very much money.

Our server's name was Andrea, and she was VERY nice to me and my brother and my sister and my mom. She said that on the weekends they have chicken and waffles that is amazing. I'm hoping that I can go back and try that some time. And maybe I'll bring my own maple syrup!
