We went to The Oyster Club last weekend. It opened over the summer in Back Bay. My parents had been before, but this was my first time. We sat outside because it was a nice night. I really liked the outdoor space. We sat at a big table with a bench on one side. Sometimes benches at outdoor restaurants are dirty or muddy or gross, but theirs was good. The servers were very nice and attentive.
While we were looking at the menu, they brought over oyster crackers and bluefish pate. Most oyster crackers are small and flat, but these were huge and pouffy. They looked like macaron!

The bluefish pate was very smoky, which I liked. I'm not allowed to have bluefish usually because it has a lot of mercury in it, which is bad for kids' brains, but my mom did let me have a little taste so that I could write about it. It made me happy that I have this blog!

Next we got raw bar. We had oysters, shrimp and calamari salad with giardiniera, which is spicy pickled vegetables. They oysters were from Massachusetts and I thought that they were very briny, but that's how I like them. My little sister must have liked them too because she ate four! My friend Gloria tried a raw oyster for the first time. She didn't really like it, but I was proud of her for trying!

One of the items on the Oyster Club menu that is unique is tinned seafood. We got sardines in sauce. It came with mustard, olive spread, pickles and toast. I tried a piece of toast with sardines, olive spread and a pickle. I liked how the pickle added a lot of flavor. I liked the sardine.

Next we had Salt Roasted Wellfleet Clams with chorizo bread crumbs, oregano & charred lemon. This was a version of Clams Casino, which is clams cooked on the half shell, usually with bread crumbs and bacon. I liked these, but I think that the Clams Casino at Abe & Louis are better.

For entrees, my mom and Gloria's mom shared Cape Cod scallops with heirloom tomato panzanella, and cucumber yogurt. They both really liked it. The scallops were cooked perfectly and the salad was fresh and light.

My sister got simply grilled Atlantic salmon, with a side of roasted carrots with sesame salt. My sister said that the salmon was good and when we asked her why, she said that she liked how it tasted in her mouth! I actually thought that it was good too and wished I'd gotten it! She got romesco sauce on the side and I loved that it wasn't too smooth and still had chunks of pepper in it. The carrots were very buttery and glazed with something that made them sweet.

For my entree I had simply grilled branzino with a side of green and yellow Romano beans. Romano beans are like flat green beans. I loved them and like them better than green beans! I liked the fish too. They did a great job filleting it and I only got one bone.

Gloria got fried chicken. It came with snap peas, shitake mushrooms, cashews, cream corn, and thai basil, but she got all of that on the side. The chicken was good and the best part was that it didn't have any bones.

My brother got a petite NY Strip Steak. He said that the steak was very tender and juicy. It didn't have a lot of fat and was easy to cut. The fries had Old Bay seasoning on them, but not too much, just enough to add a really good taste.

I liked The Oyster Club a lot. I especially liked sitting outside and I want to go back there soon.
