Last weekend my family went to Eddie V's for dinner. Eddie V's is a big restaurant that looks like a steak house, but mostly serves seafood. It's actually in the mall, but you can't really tell that from the inside. And we came in off the street anyway.
The hostesses were very nice. The hostess stand looks like a dresser in a bedroom though, which I thought was weird. We sat at a large round table, that was partly a bench and partly chairs. I liked the bench because it was comfy. My mom and sister took the chairs so that my sister wouldn't climb all over the bench, which would NOT be good restaurant manners!!
We got fresh, warm bread soon after we sat down. The bread was very crusty, with a soft center, and very good.

We started with Beach Plum oysters, which are from Buzzards Bay in Massachusetts. My sister loved them. I really liked the cocktail sauce. It wasn't too spicy, but it wasn't too bland. I usually don't like cocktail sauce on oysters, but this time I did. I didn't like horseradish when I was little, but now I do! The mignonette was also really good. It had a lot of onions, which I liked.

We also had Chilled Gulf Shrimp with Atomic Horseradish and Spicy Mustard. I loved the spicy mustard. Have you noticed that my family starts with oysters and shrimp cocktail a lot?! Our server was named Shea and she saw how much we liked the shrimp cocktail, and so she brought us a second one complimentary! She was really nice and friendly and did a great job taking care of us!!

I begged my parents to get us caviar and they weren't sure, but finally they said okay! This was Royal Siberian Caviar, which comes from the Siberian sturgeon (sturgeon is a kind of fish and caviar is fish eggs). I've noticed that even though caviar come from sturgeon, you never really see the fish on a menu. Instead of blini, the caviar was served with toasts with a great deal of butter on them (if you haven't read Mercy Watson, you should!!!!). There were also capers, onions, creme fraiche and chives. Usually caviar is also served with chopped hard boiled egg, and I think that Eddie V's should add that too! Caviar is my favorite food and so this was definitely my favorite thing that we had!!

My dad had Fuji Apple Salad with Golden Beets, Dried Cherries, Candied Walnuts, Blue Cheese and Apple-Cider Vinaigrette. It was a really nice salad. The combination of the dried cherries and candied walnuts and blue cheese was very good.

My brother had Double Breast of Chicken Roasted with Mushrooms, Shallots and Natural Jus. This was my third favorite dish! My brother thought that it was all cooked very well and flavorful. He liked how the mushrooms were soft and I did too.

For his entree, my dad had Branzino with Artichokes, Oven-Dried Tomato and Olive Tapenade. He really liked it and thought that it was all excellent. I thought that the fish was very moist and the artichokes were delicious. Artichokes are another favorite of mine!

My mom and I had steamed king crab legs. They were a little bit hard to get out, but I did it. They were very good with fresh squeezed lemon. There was so much that I had to take two home!

Shea also surprised us with Crab Fried Rice with Mushrooms and Scallions. Even though we didn't order it, this ended up being probably the most popular dish at the table! It was my second favorite after the caviar. I thought that the different textures when together very well. There was lots of crab!! And the dish had lots of umami.

For sides we had Roasted Broccoli "Caesar" Style and Grilled Asparagus with Salt and Fresh Lemon. The sauce and cheese on the broccoli added a lot of flavor. The asparagus was simple, but tasted fresh and good.

We ordered two desserts, and they were amazing!! My favorite was the Dark Chocolate and Crushed Toffee S'mores with Toasted Homemade Marshmallow. It was my sister's favorite too. I liked how the marshmallow was creamy and really well toasted. The chocolate was amazing. It was like a cross between a mousse and a brownie.

My dad and brother's favorite dessert was the Hot Apple Cobbler with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream With Caramel Drizzle. The apples were thinly sliced and very soft. The cobbler top was more like a crisp cookie than a biscuit, which is usually what is on top of cobbler. But I really liked it this way. It was delicious.

Shea wasn't done surprising us and brought out an extra dessert sampler! It was really nice of her to bring us so many extra dishes! The sampler had Bananas Foster Butter Cake, Mango Sorbet and Chocolate Cookies. Another server poured alcohol on it and lit it on fire! Preparing dessert that way is called flambe. The alcohol is supposed to all burn off, but it didn't so the cookies still tasted like they had alcohol on them and my parents didn't let me have any!

After we were done with dessert, Shea had one last surprise for us. She brought roses for me and my sister! It was extra perfect since my middle name is Rose!!! They were very pretty and my mom put them in a vase in our kitchen when we got home.
I love Eddie V's and really want to go back soon. I definitely recommend the caviar and crab legs. And you should try to sit in Shea's section if you can!
